Review: The Achievement Habit: Stop Wishing, Start Doing, and Take Command of Your Life

The Achievement Habit: Stop Wishing, Start Doing, and Take Command of Your Life The Achievement Habit: Stop Wishing, Start Doing, and Take Command of Your Life by Bernard Roth
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Just Okay! Language was less interesting than the content. Most of the things are what I've already read in many other books. Yeah! I learned few new things as well, from it.

Short summary - To understand the difference between how you see yourself and how others perceive you, ask five friends to jot down five characteristics of your personality. Compare their responses to your own list: you’ll see some variety but also a lot of overlap. That overlap will include some characteristics you’ll want to retain and others you’ll want to change.

It’s also important to understand your intentions. What do you want to achieve? Ask yourself what you would do if you only had ten minutes, ten hours, and so on. That way, you’ll be clear on what you really want.

So for sure, I'm not gonna recommend it to anyone...!

Review: Managing Online Reputation: How to Protect Your Company on Social Media

Managing Online Reputation: How to Protect Your Company on Social Media Managing Online Reputation: How to Protect Your Company on Social Media by Charlie Pownall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's an important book for every single PR Expert or Student. And must for socially
active men and women in virtual world. This has so many lessons equipped with examples to teach. Someday, I start reading it again and read it quite deeply.

As there're many takeaway, do's and don't and handy tips. But mostly for companies and CEOs. I just come across goofup done by Tesla CEO Elon Musk as I consider him one of Earth's most learned man.

Short summary - Even a relatively small and embarrassing incident can become a huge crisis if it gets turned into a popular social-media story. Don’t let this happen to your company. By employing effective and sincere communication, any company can prevent a PR disaster from destroying years of hard work.

Actionable advice:

Create a corporate blog.

When faced with an embarrassing story on social media, it will be extremely useful for your company to have its own blog. That way, you can give a detailed account of events, supporting and illustrating your case with numbers or video footage. This provides room for the information you need to convey but can’t fit into a 140-character tweet.

Though it's lil costly but worth to read. Here I'm providing a link to buy at discounted price - http://amzn.to/2jZ2KMb

Review: Stoned: Jewelry, Obsession, and How Desire Shapes the World

Stoned: Jewelry, Obsession, and How Desire Shapes the World
by Aja Raden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Stoned: Jewellery, Obsession, and How Desire Shapes the World
One of the good book I've read after a quite long time. It's a wonderful mix of history, marketing, fashion and psychology. A must read for shopping addict ladies and wise husbands/boyfriends. Aja Raden clearly explained the reason behind things becoming cheaper or dearer. Beauty is a powerful motivator, and it has channelled the course of history from figures like Queen Elizabeth to the sale of Manhattan. The value of beautiful objects is far from constant, however, and it is influenced by many different factors, such as marketing and supply and demand.

Review: Meltdown: A Free-Market Look at Why the Stock Market Collapsed, the Economy Tanked, and the Government Bailout Will Make Things Worse

Meltdown: A Free-Market Look at Why the Stock Market Collapsed, the Economy Tanked, and the Government Bailout Will Make Things Worse

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This one of a quite contradicting view of 2008 Lehman Crisis. Here the author blaming the Government particularly the President Bush & his economic advisories. While the mainstream media maintains that rampant capitalism caused the 2008 financial crisis, the federal government is actually to blame. That’s because by depressing interest rates and fostering economic bubbles, the government caused the near disintegration of the US economy.
